Your Squeeze Page is your Front Door

A squeeze page is the front door to your business and if you can’t get people to come in, you are not going to make any sales.

Fortunately there is blogging, which can drive a lot of traffic your way, if you do it right. All it takes is consistency and a little imagination on your part to keep a good blog going.  It’s not like you have to write 500-word articles every day!  In fact, long articles on blogs can be a turn-off for readers, who are generally attracted to blogs because of their brevity – they get to the point fast.

You can either start your own blog, or be very active on someone else’s blog, it really doesn’t matter. Of course, with your own blog you can be totally in control of the subject, and you can moderate posts, discarding anything that you feel is not useful, helpful or interesting to your target audience.

Setting up your own blog with WordPress or Blogger is simple; the hard part is driving traffic to your new blog. The principles are the same as if you were to have a full-blown website – correct SEO is vital, as is marketing.

You have to post to your blog every day and respond to posts consistently, thoughtfully and quickly. How do you get good ideas for posts? A good idea is to look at what questions people are asking by visiting other blogs and forums and places like Yahoo! Answers. This all depends of course on what product or service you are promoting, but by joining other relevant blogs and forums, you should be able to get some great ideas. Keep an eye on the news too, if something relevant to your product is in the news it should increase your readership if you follow-up quickly with a well SEO’d post.

Good writing is important. A short article should be easy to read with short paragraphs and lots of white space. Every post should be interesting and helpful and lead the reader naturally down to the link to your squeeze or landing page. Write so that the reader is eager to find out more, and they will click through and give you their email address.

Keep notes on what you do. If something isn’t working then try a different approach – don’t waste your time on unproductive practices, move on.

Promoting something you like or use yourself is always easier than promoting anything else. Your passion will shine and you will be able to answer questions without a struggle, people will then see you as an expert and want to join your list.

Promote your blog in article directories, in forums, and on social networking sites. If people are interested in what you are promoting and see you as a dominant presence on many different sites, they will sign up. They can see that you are not only an expert, but you are putting a lot of effort into getting your word out.

Conversion rates will be your next hurdle and these numbers are something you should be constantly aware of. Again, keep notes and if you find that one particular social media platform or article directory isn’t working for you, figure out what you are doing wrong and if it can’t be rectified, move on to something that is converting well, and concentrate your efforts on that instead.

Blogging will give you good results only if you put the work into it.
