There are dozens of ways of making money online, as an article writer, a professional blogger, building websites for other people, creating graphics, or probably the easiest way, by becoming an Affiliate Marketer.
If you are thinking of becoming an Affiliate Marketer, one the first things you must do is to choose a niche or specialist topic.
When you have carefully chosen your niche, by using many of the free tools available on the internet, you can either build an entire website around that subject, promote it on any of the article sites like Squidoo, or build a blog. Decide which of these options is best for you and stick to it. It is extremely easy to get distracted and sidetracked. Focus, put on blinders and do not stray from your business model.
NEVER sit down and let the thought of money lead you by the nose. You must always think first of your prospective customers and how you can help them.
“So how and when do I make some money?”
You make money by earning a commission on every sale that you make. It is easy to join an Affiliate marketing site, such as Commission Junction or Amazon.com.
The great thing about Affiliate Marketing is that you don’t have to create products to sell, buy, warehouse and ship hundreds of boxes, or build complicated shopping carts. All you have to do is find a niche that you can build and write interesting content around, and offer value to your prospective customers. There’s no customer service involved either, you just answer any questions you may receive on your blog or via email and basically that’s it! You never have to meet a grumpy client or have to get dressed up and take them to lunch!
It takes time, and a lot of planning. If you decide to build a specialist website you must build the website yourself and pay a monthly fee to a hosting company for that service. A domain name should be chosen that relates to the niche you are targeting. Both of these cost very little. Then you must write original and interesting content about your niche and make sure it is written in such a way that it is search-engine friendly, so you can rank high.
Once your blog or website is optimized and up and running, it only takes a few hours a week to add some extra content and keep the website or blog up to date. If you set up the site properly from the start, your website should continue to earn you affiliate commissions for years to come. Eventually, your website becomes “property” that can actually be sold.
I don’t care what the Gurus say; it does take time and persistence. They may say they made a quick $250,000, but believe me, they have paid writers, spent money on market research and spent months planning beforehand, so don’t believe them, it wasn’t quick. Affiliate Marketing takes a lot less money than starting a real-world business, but your biggest investment will be your time.
These Are the Things You Must do:
- Choose a Niche that interests you and can make you money. It has to be something that will give you a profitable platform, building a website around something like socks just won’t work.
- Register a Domain Name that contains a keyword relevant to your niche
- Find a good hosting company
- Build a website or use a WordPress Blog, or you can use WordPress as a website
- Join social networking sites such as Twitter or Facebook
- Write search engine optimized content
- Join Affiliate Programs that offer relevant products
- Write Product Reviews and post them with a link back to your site
- Use optimized keywords (Google has a free keyword tool)
- Obtain links from similar (not competing) sites that point to your pages
- Add original content regularly and continue to get links and interact on the social media sites.
The object of this exercise is to get traffic i.e. potential customers to your site, the more they visit the more sales you will make. Keep track of what ads are working and what aren’t.
It’s tough, and you won’t make any money in the first few weeks, until your site has been indexed by Google. By watching your number of daily visitors grow and your first commissions start coming in, you will become energized and you will be off building more websites before too long!
